Annual Report of Government Unani Medical College & Associated Hospital Shalteng-Ganderbal, Kashmir for the academic year 2025-26.

• Admission process of BUMS students (Session 2024-25) selected through NEET by J&K BOPEE/All India Quota (AIQ) was completed within the set time limit.
• Regular classes (theory and practical) for BUMS students of all batches enrolled in the institution are being conducted in accordance with the prescribed curriculum.
• Clinical classes for BUMS 3rd Prof students have been started in both associated hospitals at Shalteng Srinagar & Nawabagh Ganderbal to impart practical-based clinical training to the students.
• OPD & IPD Services are functional in both associated hospitals and a significant increase in terms of patients attending OPD/IPD services was achieved.
• Consultants and faculty members have actively contributed in Clinical, Academic, and Research activities.
• Faculty members of various departments participated in numerous CMEs/Workshops/Seminars as resource persons/delegates during the current academic session.
• Various Faculty members participated in Physical workshops as Subject experts for framing competency-based syllabus & curriculum organized by NCISM Delhi at the National Institute for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Hyderabad in Oct-Nov 2024.
• Additional species of medicinal plants including certain rare species have been procured from Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology (SKUAST) for the herbal Garden within the College Campus.
• Teaching and Non-teaching posts, whichever were deficient, have been advertised and the recruitment process has been completed.
• Recruitment of Residential Medical officers/Clinical registrars completed.
• Additional furniture and fixtures for the College have been acquired.
• Central Library of the institution has been made fully operational with an additional 1500 books and further procurement of books/journals/periodicals is under process.
• Establishment of Digital Library is under process.
• Modular Labs and Museums of different departments of the institution are fully functional.
• Modular Operation Theater in the associated Hospital is functional.
• BUMS First batch passed their final year successfully and started their 12 months internship.
• Procurement of Ambulance for the hospital.
• Establishment of 24 hrs power supply for the college & associated hospital .
• Installation of CCTV Surveillance system in the college premises. .
• Various outreach Free Medical cum awareness Camps /IEC activities/School Health camps/Peripheral OPDs have been organized during the year 2025-26
• Govt. Unani Medical College (GUMC), Ganderbal, Kashmir successfully organized a grand event on 11th Feb 2026 on the occasion of World Unani Day 2026 with theme " Innovations & Evidences in Unani Practice" in the conference hall of the college, celebrating the rich legacy and growing global relevance of the Unani system of medicine.
• In a dignified and patriotic atmosphere, the Nodal officer GUMC Ganderbal Kashmir, Dr Shabeer Ahmad Gaffari hoisted the National Flag as part of the Republic Day celebrations held on 26 January 2026. The ceremony began with the unfurling of the Tricolour, followed by the singing of the National Anthem by students and staff.
• Department of Pharmacy GUMC Ganderbal organized an exposure cum Pharmacy Tour for students of 2nd Prof. to Gulmarg Herbal Remedies, Mazhama Budgam on 20/12 /2025 under the supervision of Dr Tariq Rahim Mohmad, Associate Professor & HoD Department of Pharmacy.
• College Council Meeting in the conference Hall of GMC Sgr on 6th August 2024.
• Department of Regimenal Therapy, GUMC Ganderbal organized a free medical camp cum awareness programme on Musculoskeletal Disorders at NTPHC, Gratbal , Manasbal, Ganderbal on 27/11/2025 under the supervision of Dr Shiekh Mohmad, Associate Professor & HoD Department of Regimenal Therapy.
• The Department of Physiology, GUMC Kashmir successfully Organized Physiology Week w e.f 22nd Nov to 26th Nov 2025 , under the supervision of Dr. Afroza Jan , Assistant Professor & In- Charge Dept.
• World Diabetes Day ( 14th Nov 2025) the Department of Preventive & Social Medicine, GUMC successfully conducted a Diabetes Screening Camp in Associated Hospital, Ganderbal, to promote early detection and awareness , under the supervision of Dr Afroza Rahman , HoD PSM
• Department of Gynecology & Obstetrics GUMC Ganderbal hosted a Campus Awareness Walk in the college campus on occasion of "Breast Cancer Awareness Programme " 2025 under the supervision of Dr Shahida Habib HoD Gynecology & Obstetrics.
• The Department of Dermatology and Cosmetology , GUMC Kashmir successfully Organized WORLD PSORIASIS DAY 2025 , today on 29th October, 2025 with theme "Psoriatic Disease and Comorbidities-Understanding the Domino Effect" under the supervision of Dr. Azad Hussain Lone, Associate Professor & HoD Dermatology & cosmetology.
• Awareness program on Pharmacovigilance of ASU drugs organised by Pharmacovigilance cell of GUMC Ganderbal on 28-10-2025 in collaboration with RPVC , RRIUM Srinagar.
• The Department of Anatomy celebrated " WORLD ANATOMY DAY 2025 " on 15th October 2025 in the conference hall of GUMC Ganderbal under the supervision of Dr Afshana Nabi.
• District Police Ganderbal in collaboration with GUMC Ganderbal conducted an awareness programme on "NEW CRIMINAL LAWS" on 09-10-2025 under the supervision of Dr Tariq Rahim Malik.
• Celebrating Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (SNSPA) , a Maternal and Child Health Awareness programme was organised by the Department of Qabalat wa Amraz e Niswan GUMC Ganderbal at Sadaat Valley Educational Institute, Wakura, Ganderbal today on 30-09-2025.
• Anti Ragging week ( 12- 18 th August ) was observed in GUMC Ganderbal. Various activities in the form of awareness lectures, speeches , debates etc were conducted under the supervision of Dr Arshad Hussain Shah, Associate professor.
• An awareness camp was held on World Hepatitis Day at Govt. Higher Secondary school Wakura Ganderbal by the department of Atfal (paediatrics) Govt. Unani Medical College Nawab Bagh Ganderbal Kashmir on 28th of July 2025
• An All India educational Tour of BUMS Final Prof. 2000 Batch was conducted in the month of Oct. 2025.
• A Legal literacy programme organized today on 12th June 2025 at Conference Hall of GUMC GANDERBAL in collaboration with School of Law, University of Kashmir. The whole event was coordinated by Dr Tariq Rahim Malik & Panel of evaluators/ experts including Dr M Rafi Thoker, Dr Azad Hussain & Dr Afroza Rahman.
• Free Medical Aid cum Awareness Camp at Madina International Islamic School Wakura on 22-11-25 organized by the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Activities carried out included Screening of Adolescent girls for menstrual irregularities, Distribution of free medicines & Awareness to females (students & locals) regarding PCOD and its consequences.
• Awareness cum Screening camp on childhood Diabetes at Govt Higher Secondary School Wakura on the eve of World Diabetes Day (14-11-2025) organized by the Department of Paediatrics in collaboration with the Department of Social & Preventive Medicine.
• Herbal Tour of BUMS 2nd Prof Student to Herbal Garden Yarikha Tangmarg on 12-11-2025 under the supervision of Dr Aasiya Ul Erum, HoD Department of Ilmul Advia (Pharmacology).

• International Day of Yoga 2025 with the theme ‘Yoga for Self and Society – Nine Years of IDY’ was celebrated in collaboration with District Administration Ganderbal Kashmir.
